In Texas, the required minimum liability limits are : $25,000 for each injured person, up to a total of $50,000 per accident, and $25,000 for property damage. This is usually referred to as 25/50/25.
You are not required to get collision and comprehensive on a car but it helps to protect your vehicle.
If you are leasing your car, you may be required by the lienholder to acquire collision and comprehensive. If your car is paid off, then you have the option whether you want to include it or not.
NOTE: Before April 1, 2008, the required liability limits in Texas is 20/40/15 . This means $20,000 per injured person, up to a total of $40,000 for everyone hurt in an accident, and $15,000 for property damage.
